Dr. Steven Michael
Dr. Steven Michael graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. He started working at the Council Bluffs Veterinary Clinic in 2001. Surgery is his main veterinary interest. Dr. Michael is a member of both the IVMA and the AVMA. Originally from the Logan Magnolia area, he now resides in Council Bluffs with his wife Nancy, and their children Colin and Grace. He has two Labrador Retrievers, Lily & Tug. His past times include: hunting, fishing, hiking, running, and a number of other outdoor activities.
Dr. Aaron Sitzmann
Dr. Aaron Sitzmann graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2006 and started working at our clinic that same year. He has treated dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets, rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, chinchillas, snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, and wildlife. He will work with most exotic animals and wildlife, except for primates and venomous animals. He has an interest in small animal internal medicine and dermatology. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA). He is a past member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV). He lives in Council Bluffs with his two children, Dalton and Elayne Jade, his cat (Frozen), a Russian tortoise (Natalya), and a rabbit (Pickle Bunny), and their newest addition, a puppy named Lalli. His pastimes include: attending church, volunteering as an assistant teacher for his children’s Religious Education program, volunteering as a Boy Scout Leader since 2008, camping, reading, and bicycling.
Dr. Sara Pettis
Dr. Sara Pettis graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She performed relief work at an emergency veterinary clinic in Des Moines, IA before joining the staff of the Council Bluffs Veterinary Clinic. Originally from Bellevue, NE, Sara and her husband, Josh now reside in Papillion with their sons Joshua Jr. and Joseph, as well as three Mississippi map turtles (Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael). She enjoys reading, running, traveling, and Husker Football.
